About
With my dissertation I wanted to point out how some of the fundamental ideas developed by the Czech philosopher Jan Patočka have played a prominent role in the context of the political dissent in Central Europe, during the 60s and the 70s years of 20th century. The dissertation is composed of three parts. In the first one, I traced the patočkian analysis of contemporary times and of the pathology that, according to this author, conditions essentially this historic period. In the second part, I concentrated the attention on the concept of Lebenswelt (world of life), as a peculiar element in Patočka's reflexion, showing its potential in the practical-political field. In the third and last part, I tried to demonstrate, firstly, in which way the theoretical contents pointed out in the previous parts have been determined the involvement of Patočka in the activity of political dissidence and, in particular, in the experience of Charter 77. Secondly, I wanted to show how some figures who animated the European dissent have been also influenced by Patočka's thought, especially during the experience of Charter 77, until 1989.
