PhD in Political Science (Sciences Po Paris and University of Florence), Mauro Barisione is an Associate professor of Political Sociology at the University of Milan, where he teaches courses on Public Opinion and Political Participation. He is also the Vice-Director of the PhD Program in Sociology.

He is in the board of ESA (European Sociological Association) Political Sociology Research Network, and in the Scientific committees of ITANES (Italian National Election Studies) Research Program; SISE (Italian Society of Electoral Studies); AIS (Italian Association of Sociology) Political Sociology Section.

He has published several books and articles both in national and international refereed journals, especially in the fields of electoral behaviour, political communication and public opinion studies.

His research interests include leader effects on voting behaviours, political leadership communications, framing processes in politics, and the changing relationships between political elites, citizens, and the media in a comparative perspective.
